Ford Center Console Repair

My 2006 F-150 has been reliable transportation.  Yeah, I have replaced the battery a couple of times.  And, the tires.  And. I have kept a regular change of fluids cycle.  But…  Yeah, there is always that “but”.

I have the center console that will flip up for an extra seat in the front.  The console has a cup holder and a lid covering a storage compartment.  The cupholder is ringed by by a padded foam trim covered with vinyl.  (Note the images at right.)  The foam pad is secured to the mounting base by a lip that slips into a matching grove on the plastic base plate.

Safety Whip Mounting on a Jeep

Whip Mount in positionThe flags are typically a 5 foot fiberglass pole with a red flag attached to the top and either 1/4” or 5/16” diameter.  While there are a number of different methods to mount the flag on an ATV, dune buggy, or side-by-side, mounting on a full-size 4x4 requires a little planning.

My recent visit to the Sand Sports Super Show provided an interesting, easy to mount quick-release system designed to simplify the process for mounting and dismounting whips with no tools and no trimming of shattered ends necessary.

Building a General Purpose Mobile Comms Suite

I like to get out with a purpose.  Usually, my rig takes me places where I like to do other things.  I have bikes, kayaks and feet that like to get away from the vehicle more than I tend to take the truck down trails these days.  This is not to say that 4 wheeling is not a goal; time to take advantage of extended outings just hasn't been in abundance.  That said, I decided that I wanted a communication system that would function with a general purpose.  I wanted to use both amateur radio frequencies and CB communications.

Staun Internal Beadlock Install

One Piece Alloy WheelFirst, you need to determine if your rims are acceptable for the Staun internal beadlock.  Acceptable means one piece alloy or steel rims.  And, even if it is a one piece rim, there may be a structure issue that makes a particular style of rim a bad choice.

The internal beadlock is a tire within a tire.  One hole is required to be drilled in the rim for the valve stem of the inner tire.  And, it requires a flat surface that is parallel on the inside and outside in a location that does not interfere with the brake assembly.
